How to get there: You can take the ferry from Galveston or drive around Galveston Bay.

Ferry:   If you arriving on Friday you should really consider driving around through Winnie. The ferry has been very slow lately and on Friday there will be a good deal of traffic. You can call ahead to the Ferry office at 409-795-2230 to see how long you will have to wait.

From Houston
Take I-45 south to Galveston. Continue straight down Broadway until you reach the beach. Turn left on to Ferry Road (two stop lights). Left again on Ferry Road to the landing. It takes the free Ferry 13 minutes to travel across Galveston Bay to Bolivar Peninsula. When you get off the Ferry you are on Highway 87 at the community of Port Bolivar, home of the Bolivar Lighthouse Click and the North Jetty, famous for fishing.
Crystal Beach is northeast on Highway 87 about 10 miles from the Ferry Landing.

Driving Directions from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), Houston, TX to Crystal Beach, TX

Taking I-10 around Galveston Bay
Take IH 10 east thru Baytown to Winnie, Texas. In Winnie, turn south on Hwy 124.   Head south on 124 all the way to the beach! At the dead end turn right,. Looking at the map this looks like a longer route but it is usually faster. However the ferry is far more picturesque...

FROM BEAUMONT
Take I-10 west to Winnie, then head south on Highway 124 until you come to the beach road, Highway 87. Turn right, go about 7 miles to the bridge at Rollover Fishing Pass Click in the community of Gilchrist. After the bridge, it is 6 miles to Crystal Beach.
